Postdoctoral Research Openings

A postdoctoral research position is available in the Halas group at Rice University, in Houston, TX in the area of cancer theranostics and biomedical applications of nanoparticles. Primary objectives include designing and synthesizing multifunctional sub-100 nm near-infrared resonant gold nanoparticles for photothermal and gene therapeutics. The candidate must have a strong background in chemistry including wet chemical synthesis of water soluble, monodisperse nanoparticles and an interest in nanomedicine. Ideally, the candidate will have additional expertise in more than one of the following areas: nanoparticle functionalization, plasmons, cell culture, DNA, multidisciplinary experimental approaches to nanomaterial characterization, including microscopy, zeta potential, analytical chemistry, biochemistry techniques, etc.

Responsibilities will include development and execution of experiments, data analysis, manuscript preparation, presentation of results, and working with collaborators and other members of the research team at Baylor College of Medicine, U. T. M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, and elsewhere. The applicant must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
